All persons who love remote work can now head to Malaysia in order to live and work there remotely after the country’s government has announced that it will launch the digital nomad visa, becoming the latest country to take such a step.
Through the Digital Nomad Visa, citizens from other countries are eligible to live in Malaysia for a specific period while working remotely for businesses or clients outside the country, VisaGuide.World reports.
Up to this point, a large number of countries have introduced the digital nomad visa in order to help the economy’s growth, especially after the profound financial losses caused by the spread of the Coronavirus and the restrictions imposed to halt its spread.
European countries are among the most famous destinations when it comes to digital nomad visas. Countries such as Estonia, Croatia, Portugal, and Iceland are among the most favorite destinations for digital nomads when it comes to remote work.
In order to benefit from the digital nomad visa, there are some documents required, such as the following:
- A valid passport
- Identity photos
- Proof of health insurance
- Proof of financial income
- Evidence of remote work
- Civil documents
In order to apply for the digital nomad visa, the applicants should fill in the application form, make an appointment with a consulate or embassy, prepare the documents required and submit the application.
Since last October, the government of Malaysia has begun to accept online applications for the new digital nomad visa. A recent report provided by the Economic Times of India shows that all persons with an annual income of more than $24,000 are eligible to apply for the visa and stay in this country with their dependents for a period of more than 13 months, with the possibility to extend it for another year.
The spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants led authorities in countries worldwide to impose travel bans and other restrictions in order to prevent another increase in the number of infections. But such restrictions have significantly damaged the economic sector, leading to profound losses.
But the spread of COVID-19 turned people’s eyes to remote work. According to a recent survey published by Two Tickets to Anywhere, there are nearly 35 million digital nomads in countries worldwide.
In addition, the same source has revealed that the United States continues to remain the most favorite destination for travelers from all countries.
