Kosovo has opened an Embassy in Colombia’s capital, Bogota, today, November 26, 2024, as part of efforts to facilitate the travel process further.
The decision has been confirmed by the chief diplomat of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, while announcing that the inauguration of the embassy will be made by the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, VisaGuide.World reports.
Gërvalla called “a historic achievement” the opening of the new embassy of Kosovo in Colombia.
According to her, such a step marks an important moment in expanding the global presence, among others.
I am delighted and proud to announce that our intensive work and preparations have led to a historic achievement today: in Bogotá, Colombia, the Republic of Kosovo is opening its embassy in another important country in South America.
She said that she feels honoured that the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani-Sadriu, will inaugurate the embassy.
The opening of our embassy in Colombia marks a significant moment in our strategy to expand our global presence and strengthen the international subjectivity of the Republic of Kosovo.
Facilitating Travel Process for Colombians
The opening of the new embassy of Kosovo in Colombia will help facilitate the travel process for Colombians planning to travel to Kosovo, offering visa services and other support information for those planning to travel to this country.
Colombia’s passport is ranked in the 66th position in the Passport Index of VisaGuide.World which ranks passports of 199 countries worldwide, taking into account the strength of their passport.
While holders of Colombia’s passport can travel visa-free to a total of 96 countries, visas are required for them when planning to head to 54 countries, including Kosovo.
Colombia’s passport has a score of 72.29 and allows its holders to travel visa-free to eight countries.
On the other hand, Kosovo’s passport is placed in the 97th position, and it has a passport score of 42.95.
Holders of Kosovo’s passport are eligible to travel visa-free to 47 countries, while visas are required when planning to head to 111 countries. Those obtaining a passport from Kosovo can travel passport-free to four countries, according to the Passport Index of the VisaGuide.World
Kosovo is attempting to tighten connections with a large number of countries. Recently, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, announced that starting from January 1, 2025, nationals of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be eligible to travel to Kosovo without visas.
