Iranian and Tajikistan citizens will soon be able to travel to each other’s countries without visa requirements following a recent agreement on a visa-free scheme.

The policy on visa abolition for holders of ordinary passports from these two countries will come into effect starting from August 10 of this year, VisaGuide.World reports.

As the authorities have explained, under this scheme, travelers from Iran and Tajikistan will be able to stay in each other’s territory visa-free for up to 90 days a year, with the first visit being limited to 30 days.

On the basis of this Memorandum of Understanding holders of general civil foreign passports of both parties have the right to visit the territory of the parties without a visa for 90 days from the date of first entry for a period of 30 days.

According to the Ministry, in the first phase, the visa-free system will be implemented only for those using the Dushanbe-Tehran and Tehran-Dushanbe air routes.

Tajikistan also recently signed an agreement with Pakistan to exempt holders of official passports from visa requirements. Since May 2024, Pakistan has been issuing visas to Tajikistan’s diplomatic passport holders.

Tajikistan Just Recently Added 25 Countries to Its Visa-Free Scheme

In addition, Tajikistan’s simplified visa process includes 126 countries in all visa categories. Foreign nationals with a standard visa or who can enter Tajikistan without a visa must register with the Ministry of the Interior within ten working days of arrival, while diplomatic personnel must register with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Just recently, Tajikistan extended its visa-free travel policy to citizens from 25 other countries, as listed below:

According to the country’s authorities, citizens from the above countries can have visa-free access to Tajikistan for up to 30 days. At the same time, it also introduced a unilateral visa-free regime for citizens over 55 from 16 countries, meaning that qualified travelers can enjoy a 14-day stay in Tajikistan.

Tajikistan Introduced a Simplified Visa Process for 14 Countries

In addition to these changes, Tajikistan has further simplified the process of obtaining visas for citizens of 14 countries. As a result, travelers from the Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Sudan, Madagascar, Palestine, Haiti, Uganda, and Syria (for diplomatic, service, and business visas) now face fewer obstacles when applying for visas.

Citizens of Iraq, Nigeria, Ethiopia, the Republic of Rwanda, and Congo (for diplomatic, service, and business visas) also benefit from this simplified process.
