A total of 471 golden visas were issued by Indonesia in the second half of 2024, based on the statistics from the Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections.
The same source revealed that for a period from July until December 2024, approximately $558 million (Rp9 trillion) was brought to Indonesia through the Residency by the Investment program VisaGuide.World reports.
Through the Golden Visa Program, foreigners can acquire residency in Indonesia in exchange for financial investments and meet the needed conditions.
The Residency by Investment Program of Indonesia offers long-term residence permits to foreigners of five to ten years, provided they make a financial contribution to the country.
In order to qualify for this program, wealthy foreigners are required to invest at least US$350,000 (about Rp5.69 billion). At the same time, corporate investors are required to commit US$25 million (around Rp406 billion).
The program also consists of special categories for global talents, as well as former Indonesian citizens and descendants of former citizens.
Indonesia’s Goal to Issue 1,000 Golden Visas by Year-End Appears Unachievable
Indonesia’s goal since the program was introduced in July was to issue 1,000 older visas by the end of this year. However, this goal seems to be unachievable as there are only two weeks left until this year ends.
Figures from the Director General of Immigration revealed that interest in the Golden Visa Program for a period of two months was high. Despite this, the number of those who have obtained the document so far remains low.
