Holders of Kenyan Passports Permitted to Enter Senegal Visa-Free

Holders of Kenya’s passports are now eligible to travel to Senegal without undergoing the visa application process after the latter’s authorities have confirmed the abolishment of such a requirement.

The decision has been confirmed by the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary Alfred Mutua, VisaGuide.World reports.

The Cabinet Secretary’s comments came during the bilateral meeting held between President William Ruto as well as Senegal President Macky Sall.

“It was announced that following Kenya’s earlier decision to lift visa restrictions to holders of Senegalese passports, Senegal has now reciprocated by providing free visa entry to Kenyan passport holders,” Mutua pointed out, according to NTV report.

He considered abolishing visa requirements as an excellent step towards enhancing regional integration as well as the free movement of Africans within Africa.

“This will grow trade between our two countries and open up tourism and education opportunities for citizens of both Nations,” the Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Cabinet Secretary emphasized.

Up to this point, the countries where holders of Kenya’s passports can travel without visas include the following ones:

  • States in East Africa
  • Antigua and Barbuda
  • Bahamas, Barbados
  • Benin
  • Botswana
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Burundi
  • Cayman Islands
  • Cook Islands
  • Cuba
  • Dominica
  • Ethiopia
  • Fiji
  • Ghana
  • Grenada

Kenya’s passport is placed in the 136th position in the VisaGuide.World Passport Index, which ranks passports of a total of 199 countries worldwide, citizens of which are able to travel visa-free to other territories.

The same source shows that holders of Kenya’s passports are eligible to travel without visas to 44 countries, while visas are required for them when planning to travel to 132 countries worldwide. Besides, they cannot travel passport-free to other territories.

At the same time, Senegal occupies the 157th position in the VisaGuide.World Passport index, which shows that it is placed even more at the bottom of this list when it comes to the power of its passport.

Holders of Senegal’s passports are eligible to travel visa-free to just 34 countries, while visas are required for them in 146 countries.

However, all those who are not subject to visa-exemption decisions are required to follow the visa application process when planning to enter Senegal.

When planning to travel to Senegal for a period of up to 90 days, applicants should hold two copies of the Senegal Visa Application Form, a valid passport, photocopies of their personal information page of their passport, two passport-size pictures, and proof of accommodation in this country among others.
