Authorities in Zambia have decided to expand the list of visa-exempt nationals who plan to travel to this territory for tourism and business purposes.
Such an announcement has been made through a statement provided by the government of Zambia, VisaGuide.World reports.
The same source has announced that nationals from other countries are eligible to stay in Zambia following the visa waiver for more than 30 days and can extend their stay for more than 90 days. At the same time, it has been reported that business visitors will be eligible to stay for more than 30 days and are also required to apply for a temporary employment permit online.
“Foreign nationals intending to conduct business for more than 30 days must submit a temporary employment permit application through this website. Such applications must be submitted by an employer, registered immigration consultants or lawyers,” the statement reads.
According to a report provided by BAL, authorities in Zambia have expanded their visa waiver list. Citizens from a total of 43 countries, including those from Canada, Australia, China, the US, Saudi Arabia as well as the majority of EU countries, are eligible to enter Zambia following the visa waiver agreement.
Back in November, the government of Zambia announced that it finalized the measures designed in order to facilitate visa-free entrances for nationals of specific countries.
The visa waiver was set to become effective on October 1 this year, however, the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security, Jack Mwiimbu, said that they needed more time in order to put in place measures to endure its implementation.
“As you may be aware, policy changes as this one requires putting in place a legislative framework to ensure that their implementation is within the confinement of the law,” he pointed out in this regard.
Mwiimbu stressed that the department also embarked on the recruitment of new staff in order to enforce compliance with immigration law and other regulations.
He added that as soon as the new changes became effective, citizens from the countries included in the visa waiver would not be required to apply for a visa at first when planning to enter Zambia.
Still, he stressed that the visa waiver does not guarantee entry into this country as the final decision in order to give permission for entry rests with immigration officials at the port of entry.
According to the announcement of the government of Zambia, the visa waiver will include citizens of the following countries:
- Australia
- Canada
