The decision to exempt nationals of these 34 countries from the visa requirements when reaching Mongolia for tourism purposes was taken after the government declared the 2023-2025 period as the ‘Years to Visit Mongolia’, VisaGuide.World reports.

“In connection with the decision of the Government of Mongolia to declare 2023-2025 as the “Years to visit Mongolia”, the Cabinet has made a decision to temporarily exempt from visa requirements for the nationals of the following 34 countries, who are traveling to Mongolia for tourism purposes. This includes 32 developed European countries, Australia, and New Zealand, which lead the number of tourists visiting Mongolia,” the statement of the Ministry reads.

The Ministry explained that by no longer requiring nationals of the EU/Schengen Area, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand to follow visa requirements, they aim to attract more foreign tourists and help the country revive the travel and tourism sector as well as its economy.

As soon as the decision to exempt nationals of the 34 countries mentioned above from the visa requirements when travelling to Mongolia for tourism purposes enters into force, the number of visa-free travel countries will be increased to 61.

On the other hand, nationals from other countries who remain subject to visa requirements still need to follow certain procedures in order to be permitted to enter Mongolia for travel purposes.
