COVID-19: Qatar to Extend Visit Visas for a Month

Internationals stranded in Qatar, who hold an on arrival or pre-entry visit visa, that is about to expire, will be eligible to extend them for a month, the Director of the Public Relations Department at the Ministry of Interior Brigadier Abdullah Khalifa Al Muftaha has announced.

According to him, after the end of the legal period of their visas, foreign citizens will be able to extend them electronically through the website of the Ministry of Interior and Metrash2 portal, without requiring direct contact with service departments, VisaGuide.World reports.

The decision was revealed on the sixth press conference of the Supreme Committee for Crisis Management.

Yesterday, Qatar Airways sought government support as the Chief Executive Akbar al-Baker stressed that the Middle East carrier could be ineligible to continue flying because they could not have sufficient money.

Qatar Airways continues the passenger services normally, furthermore in the next 14 days expects to operate a total 1,800 flights.

“We have received many requests from governments all over the world, embassies in certain countries, requesting Qatar Airways not to stop flying,” Baker pointed out.

The flights are being operated to Europe, Australia and Asia, helping the stranded people to go to their home country after many countries closed their borders and restricted travel.

“We will fly as long as it is necessary and we have requested to get stranded people to their homes, provided the airspace is open, and the airports are open,” Baker said.

Qatar’s government decided to temporarily suspend all non-emergency services, such as dentistry, cosmetic surgery, dermatology, except for emergency cases. Up to this point, in Qatar, there have been identified 634 coronavirus infection, while one person has died.
