The Belarussian authorities have decided to open the expanded visa-free zone of Brest- Grodno on November 10 this year, as previously announced.
According to an announcement released in the past days of this month, the move has been undertaken based on the second part of paragraph 4 of the Decree of the President of the Republic Belarus Alexander Lukashenko of August 7, 2019, no.300 on the establishment of a visa-free order of entry and exit of foreign citizens.
“Council of Ministers, Republic of Belarus DECIDES to approve the Regulation on the procedure for visiting citizens visa-free territory Brest – Grodno, as well as territories of districts Brest and Grodno regions that are not part of this territory,” the announcement reads.
The move has been taken in a bid to attract more tourists to the country. Eligible to enter visa-free to the expanded zone of Brest and Grodno are all those who are granted visa-free entry privilege through the Minsk National Airport.
These individuals can stay up to 10 days when visiting the Brest region and the Grodno region. However, those planning to remain for a period longer than 5 days, must register within 5 days of arrival in Belarus with the local police department.
According to the announcement of the Belarus authorities on the expansion of the Brest- Grodno visa-free zone, the government has decided on the establishment of two new documents that must be completed by the travelers. These are
- a document granting citizens the right to individual visit to the visa-free territory of Brest – Grodno.
- a document granting citizens the right to a group visit to the visa-free territory Brest – Grodno, as well as territories areas of the Brest and Grodno regions that are not part of the given territory.
