Key Takeaways

  • Albanians will be able to travel to Morocco without visas for short term stays.
  • The decision confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad aims to further tighten connections between both countries and boost tourism.
  • However, Moroccans are not eligible to travel visa-free for short-term periods of stay to Albania.

Citizens of Albania will be able to travel to Morocco visa-free for short-term stays as the latter’s authorities have decided to abolish visa requirements for them.

The unilateral decision has been taken in order to further strengthen connections between both countries and boost tourism, VisaGuide.World reports.

The decision came in a meeting held earlier this month between Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Albanian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, in Rabat.

Morocco has decided to lift visa formalities for Albanian citizens traveling for short stays and is committed to finalizing implementation procedures for this exemption to promote tourism, people-to-people exchanges, and strengthen bilateral relations.

Moroccans Can Still Not Travel Visa-Free to Albania

In spite of the fact that authorities in Morocco have facilitated the travel process for Albanians, nationals of Morocco are still subject to visa requirements when planning to visit the Balkan country.

In spite of claims by some media reports that the decision was bilateral, Albania has not lifted visa requirements for Moroccans for short-term stays, which means that the decision is one-sided.

In the meeting held on March 1, both ministers embraced strong ties between Morocco and Albania, reaffirming their commitment to further strengthen their connections.

Morocco recognized that the transformations in the Western Balkans, in accordance with applicable international law, have largely contributed to strengthening peace and stability. Morocco also welcomed Albania’s role in promoting good neighborly relations.
