List of 70 Countries that Accept Covishield Vaccine for Travel

As the vaccination rates have started to increase significantly worldwide, a large share of countries have decided to open their borders and permit international travel.

However, taking into account that every country has the right to decide on its own rules, especially the ones related to the type of vaccine that travelers have been immunized with against the COVID-19 disease, international travel has been perplexing lately.

Thus, it is highly recommended that everyone checks the validity of their vaccine before deciding to travel to another country. This can be done by using the vaccine-checker tool created by VisaGuide.World, which enables travelers worldwide to confirm whether the jab they have been immunized with is accepted by the authorities of the country they plan on visiting.

In line with the data provided from the vaccine-checker tool, the following countries permit entry for persons who have been vaccinated with the Indian-made Covishield vaccine:

Covishield vaccine, which is the AstraZeneca vaccine manufactured in India, is one of the most widely accepted vaccines for travel after Sinopharm and those that have been approved for use by the European Medicines Agency (EMA) – Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca EU, Johnson & Johnson, VisaGuide.World reports.

The vaccine was listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization (WHO) back on February 15, as well as was approved to be rolled out all over the world through the COVAX program.

Is Covishield Accepted in the UK?

Until last week, only the four EMA-approved vaccines had been accepted as valid proof of immunity in the UK. However, several days ago, British local media reported that the country had also decided to recognize Covishield.

This means that those who have been vaccinated against the virus with this vaccine should not be subject to restrictions when entering the UK. However, no official statement hasn’t been given yet regarding the rules that will apply against those vaccinated with Covishield.

Is Covishield Accepted in the United States?

Differently from the UK, the authorities of the US have only authorized the use of the Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, and Pfizer/BioNTech vaccines only.

Yet, since the US has kept its borders shut for international travel for over 18 months now, it is still ambiguous whether those who have been vaccinated with Covishield or any other vaccine will be permitted entry in November when the US plans to end its travel ban.

Except for Covishield, the Chinese-made vaccine, Sinopharm, is also widely recognized. Until now, Sinopharm has been approved for travel by 102 countries worldwide.

Similarly, Sinovac, another vaccine manufactured by a Beijing-based company, has also been approved by 72 countries.
