US Visa Issuance to Be Suspended for Certain Countries Under Trump’s New Order

Key Takeaways

  • Trump wants to scrap visas for nationals of certain countries.
  • Individuals who could pose a danger to national security can be targeted by this legislation.
  • Trump also has signed an order that ends birthright citizenship.

Since January 20, when President Trump began his mandate, several changes have been introduced to American citizens as well as the whole world.

On a new order he signed on the first day of his term, Trump has warned that people from certain countries could not be granted US visas. The reason for this measure is to protect national security, especially from terrorist attacks, VisaGuide.World reports.

To protect Americans, the United States must be vigilant during the visa-issuance process to ensure that those aliens approved for admission into the United States do not intend to harm Americans or our national interests.

Trump’s Signed Order

As mentioned in the order, the US will have to protect its citizens from individuals who “intend to commit terrorist attacks, threaten national security, espouse hateful ideology, or otherwise exploit the immigration laws for malevolent purposes.”

Trump to Implement the Stringent Anti-Migration Policies in His Term

In addition to cutting visa issuance for some countries, Trump also intends to make changes to citizenship and who is eligible to become a US citizen.

In the executive order that Trump recently signed, it was stated that the 14th Amendment, which is known for permitting children born on US soil to become US citizens automatically, was misinterpreted and that it should no longer be effective.

Among the categories of individuals born in the United States and not subject to the jurisdiction thereof, the privilege of United States citizenship does not automatically extend to persons born in the United States.

Trump’s Signed Order

This means that children born in the US whose mothers were staying illegally in the country and whose father is not a US citizen or permanent resident will not be granted citizenship at the time of birth. In addition, any child born in the US whose mother was temporarily staying in the country at the time of birth and whose father was not a US citizen or permanent resident should not be granted citizenship.

The legislation has received backlash from many groups and was opposed by 18 states, starting with New Hampshire, California, Massachusetts, Washington and New York, among those suing to block it from becoming law.

No matter what Donald Trump says or does, birthright citizenship has and will be the law of the land. I will fight to protect it at all costs.

The 14th Amendment was established over one century ago and has prevented millions of children from statelessness. In cases when parents were deported and the children who were granted citizenship remained in the US, those children fell into the system, entering foster care centres due to lack of guardianship.
