Pakistan’s envoy to Turkmenistan, Ambassador KK Ahsan Wagan, was not permitted to enter the United States and was sent back from Los Angeles, in spite of obtaining a valid visa and complete travel documents.
Wagan was travelling to LA for vacation when the United States authorities stopped him at the airport, VisaGuide.World reports.
According to a report from the News, citing sources, the deportation of Wagan was linked to controversial visa references, detected by the United States immigration system. Officials required him to return to his last port of departure, raising questions regarding the decision and diplomatic procedures.
However, the United States authorities didn’t explain their reasons behind the action.
Ambassador K K Wagan was deported from the US. He had an immigration objection which led to his deportation.
Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Ishaq Dar and Foreign Secretary Aamna Baloch have been informed regarding the recent situation while Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry has called on its Los Angeles Consulate to investigate the incident.
Trump Reaffirming US Commitment to Fight Terrorism
Earlier this month, the United States President, Donald Trump, reaffirmed the US commitment to combating terrorism.
Trump said that America is standing strong against radical Islamic terrorism, according to a report from Business Standard.
Three and a half years ago, ISIS terrorists killed 13 American service members and many others during the Abbey Gate bombing. Tonight, I am pleased to announce that we have apprehended the top terrorist responsible for that atrocity, and he is now on his way to face American justice. I especially want to thank the Government of Pakistan for helping to arrest this monster.
Revoking Student Visas from US Supporters
In January this year, the US President also signed an executive order to combat antisemitism. Trump vowed to deport non-citizen college students as well as those participating in pro-Palestinian protests.
But the decision, according to some advocates, could lead to errors, misidentifications and privacy violations.
This should concern all Americans. This is a First Amendment and freedom of speech issue and the administration will overplay its hand. Americans won’t like this. They’ll view this as capitulating free speech rights for a foreign nation.
In addition, Trump also said that he would stop federal funding for educational institutions that allow “illegal protests.”
