Trump’s Order to Ban Travel for Citizens of 12 Countries Enters Into Force

Key Takeaways

  • The travel ban of the US for nationals of 12 countries entered into force on June 9.
  • The affected individuals will have a more demanding process for visa applications.
  • The measures are part of the Trump administration to crack down on immigration.

As of June 9, a travel ban that prevents citizens of a total of 12 countries from entering the territory of the United States has come into effect.

Nationals of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen will be barred from entering the US, as the Trump administration enhances its efforts to crack down on immigration, VisaGuide.World reports.

However, the authorities have clarified that the new travel ban will not revoke visas that were previously granted to nationals of these countries.

The new proclamation, which was signed by President Trump recently, also includes more restrictions on the movement of nationals from seven countries – Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, and Yemen, namely.

Nationals of the Affected Countries Will Have a Hard Time Obtaining a US Visa

Nationals of these countries will face a more stringent process when applying for a US visa, especially for those who are outside the US and do not hold a valid visa.

Applications for US visas filed by these nationals will be under more strict scrutiny, and unless an applicant meets the very specific requirements for an exemption, their application will be more likely to be rejected.

According to some immigration experts, the new travel ban is a more sophisticated version of an order that was introduced during Trump’s first term that affected primarily Muslim countries. The same noted that the new ban is focused on the visa application process.

This policy is not about national security – it is about sowing division and vilifying communities that are seeking safety and opportunity in the United States.

Many Americans Are Quite Unhappy With Trump Becoming President

The web searches of Americans since the November elections have been increasingly related to “Trumpism”, mental health, and blues about the election of their new President.

Moreover, a study revealed that the interest of Americans in moving abroad surged by 1,514 percent for a short period of time, as Americans were seeking ways to start a new life, especially in Europe.

The same concerns have affected many popular figures, including celebrities moving abroad after Trump became president, such as Ellen DeGeneres.
