Taiwan has lifted visa requirements for nationals from Paraguay and Kosovo in an attempt to strengthen cooperation with the two countries.

The agreement between Taiwan and Paraguay for mutual visa exception was reached on November 30 between the Foreign Minister of Taiwan, Lin Chia-lung, and his Paraguayan counterpart, Rubén Ramírez Lezcano, VisaGuide.World reports.

The decision allows visa-free entry for regular passport holders from these two countries, as emphasized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Taiwan.

Through a statement, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay said that the agreement would further enhance interactions between nationals from both nations and would allow more convenience for Taiwanese firms interested in investing in his country.

Both ministers also discussed other topics, such as bilateral cooperation projects and trade investments, among others.

Minister Ramírez Lezcano expressed his hopes that Taiwan’s Diplomatic Allies Prosperity Project will contribute significantly to both countries, bringing prosperity and benefits.

Kosovo Was Added to List of Countries Eligible for Visa-Free Entry to Taiwan on December 1

Recently, authorities in Taiwan have also decided to permit visa-free travel for nationals of another country, this time, a European one.

Through a statement, Kosovo’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kreshnik Ahmeti, announced that Taiwan abolished visa requirements for nationals of Kosovo.

In a post on his Facebook account, the Minister said that from December 1, 2024, holders of passports issued in Kosovo would be eligible to travel to Taiwan without being subject to visa requirements at first.

Starting from December 1, 2024, citizens of Kosovo with regular, diplomatic, or official passports will be able to travel to Taiwan without a visa. This marks another important step in strengthening the international recognition of Kosovo’s passport, as during this governing mandate, visa-free travel has been enabled to the Schengen Area, the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Israel, and now Taiwan.

The Minister said that this opportunity for free movement with Taiwan opens the way for economic partnerships, educational exchanges, and cultural cooperation between our two societies.

Extension of Visa-Free Entry Program

Authorities in Taiwan have intensified their efforts to tighten cooperation with other countries. Among the means to achieve this goal is also facilitating the travel process for internationals.

In July of this year, Taiwanese authorities decided to extend the visa-free entry program for travelers from the Philippines, Thailand, and Brunei.

According to local media reports, nationals from these countries are eligible to enter Taiwan without a visa until July 31, 2025, provided they meet some needed requirements.
