Travelers planning to visit South Korea will be eligible to do so starting from April 1, without being subject to additional requirements such as quarantine or testing process, provided they have completed their immunization process against the virus.
Such a decision has been confirmed by Korea Tourism Organisation and comes as part of the country’s authorities’ efforts to further abolish the measures taken to stop the spread of the Coronavirus, especially the Omicron variant, VisaGuide.World reports.
The Organisation has clarified that passengers who have received the final dose of their initial vaccine series for a period of more than 180 days ago will be required to get a booster shot.
All passengers who are considered fully vaccinated will not be required to follow mandatory self-isolation rules upon their arrival in South Korea.
Such a decision means that passengers who have completed their immunization process and registered their vaccination history through the Q-Code website will be eligible to enter South Korea without quarantine.
Authorities in this country have registered a total of 621,328 new daily cases of COVID-19 infection on Thursday. The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency has stressed that the Omicron variant has affected a large number of people recently.
Based on the figures provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO), authorities in Korea have registered a total of 7,629,275 cases of COVID-19 infection and 11,052 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
In addition, the same source shows that in the last seven days, a total of 2,417, 174 people have tested positive for the virus, while 1,612 people have died.
However, despite such figures, authorities in South Korea have announced a plan to ease their entry rules, following the example of many other countries, and help citizens to get back to normal life.
In this regard, a health ministry official, Son Young-rae, has stressed that COVID-19 could be treated like the seasonal flu.
“We see this could be the last major crisis in our Covid responses, and if we overcome this crisis, it would bring us nearer to normal lives,” Son pointed out.The spread of the Coronavirus and its new strains led many governments worldwide to impose preventive measures to protect citizens’ lives. However, such measures have often brought difficulties for many industries, especially the travel and tourism sector. Therefore, abolishing such restrictions attempts to help the country’s economy recover from the damages caused due to the Coronavirus situation.
