During the current month, the United States Embassy in Jakarta has marked the achievement of surpassing 100,000 visa approvals for Indonesian applicants in 2023.

According to a recent statement issued by the same authority, this year has witnessed a notable surge in both visa applications and successful approvals, experiencing a growth of more than 40 percent compared to the pre-pandemic period.

Last year, the Embassy had granted over 57,000 visitor visas, VisaGuide.World reports.

The number of visa applications and approvals shows that the United States continues to be a popular choice for Indonesian travelers with visas in high demand.

He also expressed his satisfaction, stating that he is delighted to assist with travel arrangements and witness a growing number of Indonesians journeying to the US.

During an event earlier this month, the Embassy acknowledged Sururoh Tullah Ade Doin Uthman as the 100,000th visa recipient. She serves as an international relations coordinator at Nahdlatul Ulama Women’s Student Association (IPPNU). She is set to travel to the US for the USG-sponsored Community Engagement Exchange (CEE) program.

Expressing her joy, Sururoh said that she was pleased that her visa application was approved. The same further noted that it is very good news, especially to be the 100,000th visa recipient.

Earlier this year, US Ambassador Sung Y. Kim initiated the “TravelUSA: American Destinations and Culture” campaign to boost tourism from Indonesia to the US.

Such campaigns show that traveling to the US provides an opportunity to immerse oneself in American cultures, explore US travel destinations, savor world-famous cuisine, access high-quality education, indulge in world-class shopping, and partake in a variety of sporting events. At the same time, the US Embassy offers comprehensive information on scheduling appointments, completing applications, and preparing for visa interviews.

Previous data provided by the OECD International Migration Outlook 2023 revealed that in 2021, the US emerged as a sought-after destination for Indian nationals pursuing foreign citizenship, as evidenced by a total of 56,085 applications for naturalization from this group.

Based on these data, the second-highest volume of applications from Indian nationals seeking foreign citizenship was reported in Australia, totaling 24,205. Additionally, Indians constituted the primary nationality group applying for British citizenship in 2021, representing over 13 percent of the total applicants. Over this period, a total of 11,598 Indians underwent the naturalization process in the United Kingdom.
