Netherlands to Lift COVID-19 Travel Restrictions for Arrivals From Other Countries From March 23

Travellers from other countries who plan to enter the Netherlands will no longer be subject to restrictions imposed due to the Coronavirus, after the latter’s authorities have decided to abolish the entry rules for them starting from March 23.

Such a decision has been confirmed through a statement published by the country’s government while clarifying that passengers from other countries would no longer be obliged to present a certificate that shows they have completed their immunisation process against the virus or have been recovered from the virus, VisaGuide.World reports.

Authorities in the Netherlands have confirmed that the recent changes apply to travellers from European Union and Schengen Zone countries as well as those outside the EU.

The government has introduced such new changes after confirming that the epidemiological situation permits such a decision to be taken.

“For people travelling to the Netherlands from within the EU/Schengen, the obligation to have a test, recovery, or vaccination certificate will expire from March 23. There are also no entry measures for EU citizens who travel to the Netherlands from countries outside the EU/Schengen,” the statement published by the government of the Netherlands reads.

In addition, the Dutch Minister of Health Ernst Kuipers has stressed that the country would also lift the remaining domestic COVID-19 restrictions on March 23.

According to the minister, Dutch citizens will no longer be required to wear a face mask when accessing public transport while stressing that the 1G rule will also be abolished, which means that citizens would no longer be required to take a COVID-19 test before attending public places and events.

“From Wednesday, March 23, 2022, the public can also enter these locations without Testing for Access. There are then no more locations where the corona admission ticket is valid,” the authorities said.

Based on the data provided by the World Health Organisation (WHO), authorities in the Netherlands have registered a total of 7,214,075 cases of COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic and 21,713 deaths.

In addition, the Dutch authorities have revealed that in the last seven days, a total of 442,546 people have tested positive for the virus, while 104 people have died.

Due to the spread of the Coronavirus and its new strains, authorities in the Netherlands have kept in place strict entry rules and restrictions in order to contain the virus’ further spread; however, at present, Dutch authorities have facilitated many of the restrictions imposed due to the virus, considering it more like an endemic disease.
