In order to attract a larger number of international tourists, the Libyan Committee for granting electronic visas to internationals has announced that it will introduce an e-visa system.
The decision comes following the meeting of the Committee held on January 21, during which it was agreed on the necessity to activate and introduce the electronic visas in cooperation with the Ministry of Labour, in line with measures that contribute to regulating expatriate workers, VisaGuide.World reports.
The Committee reviewed how the Passports Authority, Ministry of Labor, and Libyan Telecommunications Company are working together in order to make it easier for expatriate workers to apply for, pay for, and receive visas electronically.
The introduction of the e-visa system is expected to facilitate the travel process for internationals planning to visit Libya. In addition, the system is expected to facilitate the visa application process after they are eligible to do so online, without being required to head to the offices.
Besides, the e-system is also expected to make it easier for the Libyan authorities to process visa applications. The system can process a large number of applications at once, thus reducing the waiting time for applicants.
Those interested in visiting Libya are required to apply for a visa through the e-visa system. They are required to provide their personal details, passport information, and travel itinerary. They are also subject to a fee for the visa application.
Once the application is submitted, it will be processed by authorities in Libya. If approved, the applicant will be informed through email. Then, the e-visa can be printed out and presented to the immigration authorities upon arrival in Libya.
The government of Libya also announced on Wednesday that people from certain age groups in Egypt and Türkiye are now exempt from needing a visa in order to reach this country.
According to the government, the decision comes as part of the framework of the application of the principle of reciprocity.
The decision means that all nationals from Egypt under 18, men over 45, and all women are excluded from the visa requirements when planning to travel to Tripoli. As for Turkish nationals, all those under 18 and all women and men over 55 are exempted.
