Japan Airlines has launched an appealing new promotion for some international travelers, providing free domestic flights to any destination throughout Japan on specific days.
The airline aims to ease the strain on popular tourist spots like Mount Fuji, which recently implemented entry fees and limited daily visitor numbers to combat overcrowding, VisaGuide.World reports.
As Travel Tomorrow explains, this limited time offer was announced on September 13, and the scheme has been available for travelers from the following countries, but only on specific dates:
- United States (10 September)
- Canada (10 September)
- Mexico (10 September)
- Thailand (11 September)
- Singapore (18 September)
- Australia (19 September)
- New Zeland (19 September)
- Vietnam (25 September)
- Philippines (25 September)
- Indonesia (27 September)
- India (27 September)
- China (27 September)
- Taiwan (27 September)
Since the dates when these foreign visitors were eligible to take free domestic flights were specific, some eligible dates have already passed.
This means that travelers from Vietnam and the Philippines can take free domestic flights on September 25.
As for travelers from Indonesia, India, China, and Taiwan, they are eligible for free flights on September 27. However, Chinese travellers need to pay a stopover fee of $100 if their stop exceeds 24 hours.
Another Global Airline Offers Free Travel to Attract Passengers
Japan Airlines is not alone in offering free travel options to passengers. Many carriers worldwide also offer free connecting flights for travelers arriving from the US. The stopover program of Fiji Airways allows passengers flying through Nadi International Airport (NAN) to stay in Fiji for up to 48 hours at no extra cost. This is particularly useful for those passengers taking long flights from the US to Australia and New Zealand.
In addition to free domestic flights, Japan Airlines provides generous baggage allowances. Passengers flying domestically from outside Japan can check in up to two bags, each weighing up to 23 kg, making it easier for visitors to explore without the burden of heavy luggage.
This promotion follows surveys earlier this year where over 21 million passengers from 100 countries rated Japan Airlines among the top airlines worldwide, further reinforcing the airline’s commitment to an exceptional travel experience.
Japan Airlines operates flights to 64 domestic airports along 133 routes, providing travelers with numerous options to explore. The same airline also recommends various domestic destinations, such as Hokkaido, for hiking in national parks or skiing at alpine resorts. Wakayama in the Kansai region is highlighted for its extensive temple complex at Koyasan and Japan’s tallest waterfall, Nachi Falls.
