India and Moldova have recently signed an agreement concerning visa waivers for diplomatic and official passport holders.

The agreement, signed by Pavan Kapoor, Secretary (West) of India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Ana Taban, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Moldova, facilitates visa-free travel for holders of diplomatic and official passports from either country, VisaGuide.World reports.

Upon entry into force, the agreement will enable passport holders to travel between India and Moldova without needing a visa, a press release from the MEA said.

This Agreement will add further momentum to the friendly and cordial relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic ties between India and Moldova were established on March 20, 1992. This latest agreement adds momentum to these relations and signifies the commitment of both countries to strengthen their ties.

In January of this year, India’s Minister of External Affairs, S Jaishankar, congratulated Mihai Popsoi on his appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Moldova. He expressed his desire to cooperate with Popsoi to advance strong relations between the countries.

Through a post on the X platform, Jaishankar emphasized the importance of working together to improve India-Moldova ties, reflecting mutual interest in deepening cooperation in various sectors.

From April 2024, Indian Citizens Can Apply for Multiple Entry Schengen Visas With Longer Validity

Indian authorities have recently announced that Indian citizens are now eligible for multiple-entry Schengen visas with longer validity. On April 18, 2024, the European Union Commission decided to ease visa rules for Indians with a defined travel history.

Following the new rules, Indian passport holders can obtain multiple-entry visas with a validity of up to two years, provided they have received and lawfully used two Schengen visas within the last three years.

VisaGuide Passport Index has revealed that since May, the Indian passport has been ranked 132nd in the world. As a result, Indian citizens can travel visa-free to 37 countries worldwide. On the other hand, Indian passport holders must apply for a visa first to enter the left of different countries. As of this month, Indian passport holders can travel visa-free to 37 countries and territories.

According to the VisaGuide Passport Index, Moldovan passports took 88th place in the world, thus allowing its citizens the right to travel without visas to 92 countries. However, Moldovan passport holders must apply for a visa in advance to enter the remaining countries.
