More than 2,500 people visited the application page of New Zealand’s Active Investor Plus Visa in two weeks from the end of March, according to New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.

These figures show that the new changes applied to this program have led to an increasing interest from foreigners towards this scheme, VisaGuide.World reports.

The Active Investor Plus Visa program of New Zealand was subject to significant new changes from April 1, 2025.

In this regard, the chief executive of Malcolm Immigration David Cooper told Nine to Noon that the timing for the new changes applied to this program was ideal, stressing that they had seen a growing interest in recent overseas trips.

Cooper said that they hosted events in four cities in Germany, as well as Singapore, and Hong Kong.

There were also events held by NZT in New York and San Francisco, and very well attended by people who aren’t just talking, who are actually committing. In fact, as of last Friday – so less than two weeks since this visa opened – Immigration New Zealand has received 43 applications.

He said that in the past two and a half years, under the old policy, 100 applications under this scheme were received.

NZ Could Receive Over 100 Applications by the End of May

The Active Investor Plus Visa program of New Zealand aims to bring skilled and experienced international investors to this country into areas that align with the economic strategy of the government, by offering resident visas in exchange for investments through the ecosystem.

From April 1, 2025, the Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, applied new changes to this program. The Ministry introduced two simplified categories to the Active Investor Plus Visa: Growth and Balanced.

The minimum amount required for the Growth category is NZD $5 million over a three-year investment term, and NZD $10 million over a five-year investment term, for the Balanced category.

Cooper expressed his belief that by the end of May, Immigration New Zealand could receive more than 100 applications for its Active Investor Plus Visa, according to a report from RNZ.

I think we will be seeing 400 to 500, possibly 600 applications a year easily.

In February this year, New Zealand’s Immigration Minister, Erica Stanford, said that the new changes applied to this program mean that investors would only be required to stay in NZ for 21 days over three years in order to acquire residency.
