Starting today, August 14, Pakitan will no longer require citizens of a total of 126 countries to pay for the visa application fee.
According to the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), a government organization promoting and developing tourism in Pakistan, visitors from these countries can apply for a 90-day visa within 24 hours, VisaGuide.World reports.
Under the new policy, travelers will enjoy a streamlined process with a simplified form containing only 30 questions.
Announcing these plans in July, Pakistan also approved visa-free entry for business people from Gulf countries. This move, along with the new e-visa system, is part of the government’s efforts to promote foreign investment, business activities, and tourism in Pakistan.
This easing of the visa regime will help make Pakistan an attractive destination for investments and tourism.
In July of this year, Pakistan also introduced e-gates at Gwadar Port and nine major airports nationwide. In this regard, Prime Minister Sharif revealed that the first phase will see these e-gates installed at the airports in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.
In addition, the government has approved a new visa-on-arrival option specifically for Sikh Yatrees (pilgrims) holding third-country passports. This new sub-category aims to simplify travel for Sikh pilgrims, making it easier for them to visit Pakistan for religious purposes.
