Authorities in China have unfolded plans to limit visas for some officials from the United States, who have “behaved badly” on issues related to Tibet.

The decision has been confirmed through a statement by China’s Foreign Ministry, VisaGuide.World reports.

The new changes come in response to Washington’s recent announcement to impose additional visa restrictions on Chinese officials involved in policies governing internationals’ access to Tibetan areas. Authorities in China announced the decision two weeks ago.

Tibet-related issues were China’s internal affairs and the United States’ abuse of visa restrictions on Chinese officials over Tibet seriously violates international law and basic norms governing international relations.

International tourists are eligible to visit the far western part of Tibet, provided they travel in groups and obtain permission at first. Diplomats and international journalists are required to get approval from authorities in Tibet in order to go there.

Tibet is open. China welcomes friendly people from other countries to visit, travel, and do business in Tibet. But China opposes the interference of any country or person in Tibetan affairs under the pretext of so-called human rights, religion, and culture.

US May Halt Chinese Study Visas

Previously, a new legislation was introduced in the US that threatens to stop the issuance of student visas to Chinese nationals as part of efforts to halt China’s “exploitation” of the US student visa program.

The Stop Chinese Communist Prying by Vindicating Intellectual Safeguards in Academia Act (Stop CCP VISAs Act) was introduced on March 16, by Republican Congressman Riley M. Moore.

“Every year we allow nearly 300,000 Chinese nationals to come to the U.S. on student visas. We’ve literally invited the CCP to spy on our military, steal our intellectual property, and threaten national security. Just last year, the FBI charged five Chinese nationals here on student visas after they were caught photographing joint US-Taiwan live fire military exercises. This cannot continue.

Republican Congressman Riley M. Moore

In a statement, Republican Congressman Riley M. Moore said that Congress needs to abolish China’s exploitation of the US student visa program. He said that it was time the US turned off the spigot and immediately stopped all student visas going to Chinese nationals.

In this regard, Congressman Scott Perry (R-Pennsylvania), said that permitting a total of 300,000 nationals from China to infiltrate American academic institutions while the CCP attempts to undermine US national security is a threat and makes zero sense.
