Dubai Attracts Russian Tourists Looking for a New Permanent Home

Inbound travel from Russia is now slowing down after a six-month streak as Dubai’s second-largest tourism market.

According to a report from Skift, Russia has been placed in the fourth position in Dubai’s tourism source market leaderboard, now overtaken by Saudi Arabia as well as the United Kingdom, VisaGuide.World reports.

About 731,000 Russian travellers have visited Dubai up August this year, while nearly 758,000 travellers came from Saudi Arabia and 734,000 came from Britain.

Previously, Dubai Tourism unfolded plans to convert travellers into residents. In this regard, Dubai Tourism CEO Issam Kazim said, “We want to make sure Dubai continues to be one of the best cities to work in, and more importantly, one of the best cities in the world to live in.”

According to Kazim, convincing those persons to choose Dubai as a permanent home for them is very important.

Once you bring them in, you’d hope they spend more money next time and stay for longer. Eventually, they would consider living in Dubai, and we have all the visas to facilitate that. We’d like them to work here, live here and retire here. It’s all about closing the loop.

Earlier this year, Dubai Tourism unfolded plans to convert travellers into residents.

Regarding the issue, the CEO of Dubai Tourism, Issam Kazim, said that authorities in Dubai want to ensure that it remains one of the best cities to work in and, more importantly, one of the best cities in the world to live in.

According to a report from the state news agency WAM, Dubai’s tourism sector had a successful first half of 2023, following a total of 8.55 million international overnight visitors registered during this period.

The figures from Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) revealed that tourism performance is a 20 per cent yearly increase in terms of visitors.

In this regard, the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, said that the increase in the number of travellers witnessed by Dubai during the first half of this year shows its emergence as one of the brightest spots in the global economic landscape.

This accomplishment has been made possible by the foresight of Dubai’s leadership, whose vision and prudent policies fortified its resilience in the wake of global challenges and enabled it to rebound more swiftly than other markets.

He added that the surge of international visitation reinforces Dubai’s rise as a major global tourism destination, stressing that it also signifies its status as a pivotal hub for trade, enterprise and investment.
