Canada to Lift All Covid-Related Restrictions on October 1

Travelers from other countries will be subject to easier travel rules when planning to enter Canada after the latter has decided to abolish all the restrictions imposed to contain the further spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants.

Such a decision has been confirmed by the government of Canada while the same has stressed that the mandatory face mask requirement for flights and trains as well as the vaccination requirement will also be abolished, VisaGuide.World reported.

The decision to lift such requirements will have a positive impact on the country’s economic sector, especially is expected to ameliorate the travel and tourism sector and recover from the significant losses caused by the restrictions imposed by the government to contain the further spread of the Coronavirus.

“As Canadians and foreign visitors look to make travel plans, the long-awaited removal of all remaining measures effective October 1, 2022, will further expedite recovery for our industry as well as the Canadian economy,” Canada’s second-largest carrier WestJet Airlines said in a statement.

Authorities in Canada have registered a total of 4,216,141 cases of COVID-19 infection since the beginning of the pandemic, based on the data provided by the World Health Organization (WHO), while the same source revealed that during the same period, a total of 44,740 people have died.

In addition, the figures provided by the same source show that as of September 16, a total of 88,148,937 vaccine doses have been administered in this country based on the WHO data.

Despite such figures, authorities in Canada decided to lift the majority of the restrictions, taking into account the epidemiological situation in this country, in order to facilitate the travel process and help the country recover from COVID-19-related damages.

“Thanks largely to Canadians who have rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated, we have reached the point where we can safely lift the sanitary measures at the border,” Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos pointed out in this regard.

At the same time, Health Minister Duclos stressed that the government was prepared to reimpose the restrictions if needed.

“Obviously, we have no hope to reintroduce some of these measures, but if we need to protect the safety of Canadians, we will have to,” he pointed out in this regard.

The decision to put an end to COVID-19-related restrictions was taken based on the COVID-19 vaccination rate, after confirming that 90 per cent of Canadians over 12 have taken the primary series of COVID-19.
