Documents Required for Denmark Visa
When you apply for a Denmark visa, you are required to submit the following documents:

Denmark Visa Application Form
The visa application form contains 37 questions that you must fill out sincerely because any false statement can lead to your visa rejection. You can download the application form on the website of the Danish embassy/consulate, or you can complete it through the official Danish visa application website. You may also pick up a physical copy at the embassy or consulate.
To complete the visa application form correctly, you have to:
- Download the latest version of the application form
- Fill every required gap

Children’s Visa Photos
If there are children applying for a Danish visa, their visa pictures must fulfill the following criteria:
Children under six months old:
Babies can be photographed lying down or sitting on a baby chair. Use a one-colored background and do not show hands holding the baby. It is acceptable for the baby to have their eyes closed and mouth open.
Children under five years old:
Children under five years old do not need neutral facial expressions and straight head position. They don’t need to look straight to the camera, but the eye color needs to be visible.
Children under 12 years old:
The child needs to look straight to the camera, with a distance of 30mm and 36mm from the chin to the top of the head. The forehead and hairline should be visible in the photo.
Cover Letter
A cover letter is a way to introduce yourself to the visa officials and show the reason why you want to travel to Denmark. A well-written cover letter might help you receive your visa. Your cover letter should be addressed to the Embassy or Consulate of Denmark.
A cover letter should include:
- The reason for your visit.
- The date you enter and when you plan to exit Denmark.
- Where you will stay in Denmark.

Requirements For Denmark Long-Stay Visas
Long-stay visas are mandatory for anyone who wants to stay in Denmark for more than 90 days to study or work. To obtain a long-stay visa, you must submit documentation related to your travel purpose. For example:
To extend your stay in Denmark (more than 90 days), you need to submit the extension or residence permit application before your visa expiration date. If you submit the application too late, it will be refused.
Denmark Visa Document Guidelines
The documents you submit for a Danish visa must be in accordance with the documentation guidelines.
- Original copies. Original documents are required when applying for a Denmark visa unless you are asked to submit a copy.
- Translated to English or Danish. You must translate all the documents submitted for visa application to English or Danish (the official language of Denmark). Before the MFA (the Ministry of Foreign Affairs) legalizes the translation, you must endorse the translated documents by a notary, the Danish Chamber of Commerce, or the Confederation of the Danish Embassy.
- Legalized (or Apostilled). To make your documents internationally recognized, you need an Apostille stamp which you can get from the Danish Embassy. An apostille stamp makes it easier for Denmark to recognize documents issued from other countries legally. If your country is not part of the Apostille Treaty, you need to legalize your documents to have them internationally certified.
What If I Don’t Have All The Documents When I Apply?
You have to submit the missing documents to the Embassy within five days from the application day. If you fail to compile and submit all the required documents when applying for a Denmark (Schengen) visa, your application can be rejected.
