For nearly two weeks now, Turkish Airlines has denied boarding for ten passengers who were headed to Argentina and Brazil, sometimes listing lack of luggage as a motive, while at some other times, disclosing no reasons.
Turkish airlines have denied entry to Russian Citizens traveling from Istanbul to South American destinations, including Buenos Aires, and also refusing to refund their tickets, which is resulting in some thousands lost, VisaGuide.World reports.
A passenger had also disclosed that individuals traveling to Sao Paulo on a work visa were not allowed to board for two days in a row.
Turkish Airlines Denies Boarding to Russian Passengers Without Luggage & Those Traveling to Argentina
A Russian passenger traveling with Turkish Airlines to Latin America was denied boarding since he was travelling for a longer period of time to the country, without carrying any baggage with him.
Passengers staying in Brazil for longer periods of time and entering without luggage are not allowed to board in Brazil, in addition to first-time international travellers and those who cannot sustain themselves financially during the trip. Documents, deemed as unsuitable, can also be a reason why passengers can be denied boarding.
Turkish Airlines website points out that passengers travelling to South American countries such as Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Mexico and Venezuela, can often be subject to more detailed control.
Turkish Airlines Restricts Boarding to Argentina & Brazil, Sometimes Without Disclosing Reasons
Another passenger was denied boarding on a flight to Argentina, being told that they must have return tickets specifically to Russia. However, even passengers with a return ticket to Russia were not allowed to board.
A representative for a Russian-speaking airline stated that the “customs service of Latin America” was the reason why they were not allowed to board, but no official statement was released.
This passenger was not able to receive a refund, since his ticket was not refundable. On the other hand, Turkish Airlines passengers who were denied entry, have been issued a document that makes them eligible for a full refund and also were accommodated to the next available flight, as the Airline claimed.
Anita, a Turkish Airlines passenger took to social media to complain about her delayed flight, for which she was not notified on time.
I have a return flight to Argentina from Turkish Airlines and its departure from Mumbai is operated by Indi Go 6E. The flight was delayed without informing all passengers (who traveled to ISTANBUL for our connecting flights).
She also said that Turkish Airlines first told them the flight would be four hours late and each time she contacted the airline, they told her it left on time.
Anita expressed that the airline did not only reschedule a few times within the day but also did not give any place to wait for hours.
A Turkish Airlines operator responded to the comments, apologizing for the inconvenience.

According to the official Turkish Airlines website, a total of seven flights are operated to Bogota, Colombia every week, in addition to 11 to Mexico, eight to Caracas, Venezuela, four to Havana, Cuba and 11 to Sao Paulo, Brazil.
