Taking these factors into account, New York has the highest overtourism score (90.20) as determined by the VisaGuide Ranking of Overtourism in the US States. Hawaii and Florida follow next with 73.57 and 72.50 overtourism scores, respectively, VisaGuide.World reports.
While New York has the highest overtourism score, Florida receives the highest number of tourists in the States – 7.14 million compared to 7.13 million that visit New York.
Hawaii Severely Impacted by Overtourism
Nearly one million visits to the the 10,932 square miles of Hawaii are recorded, causing serious overtourism in the island archipelago. The population change in Hawaii is 66.43 percent, while the number of inhabitants in the country is 2.3 million.
Similarly, Nevada is quite impacted by overtourism, with the population change reaching 53.92 percent, while the overtourism score is set at 12.99. New York and Florida follow next with a population change of 36.4 and 31.60 percent, respectively.
