How Much Does a Sweden Visa Cost?
The fees for a Sweden visa application are listed in the table below:

How to Pay the Swedish Visa Fee?
There are two payment methods that depend on the country you are applying from:
- Paying the fee online. For online applications, the fee can be paid with a credit card in connection with the application. Your card must be enabled for Internet payment. The same rule applies if you apply for a permit extension.
- Paying the fee at the embassy or consulate-general. Applicants who apply at the embassy or consulate-general can pay the fee when they submit the visa application. Usually, you can pay the fee in the local currency, SEK (Swedish Kronor).
Swedish Visa Fee Exemptions
The administrative fee is not mandatory for everyone who applies for a Sweden visa. The following categories are exempt from paying the Sweden visa application fee.
- Children under the age of six.
- Students (school, university, or doctoral) and the teachers accompanying them who travel for educational purposes.
- Third-country researchers entering Sweden for academic research.
- Representatives of non-profit organizations.
- Holders of PA VIP passports.
- Family members of citizens of Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland, and the EU if they are applying for a family reunion visa. The rule applies to::
- Spouses (husband or wife), cohabiting partners, or registered partners.
- Children under the age of 21.
- Children over the age of 21 if they depend on their parents for support.
- Parents who depend on their children in Sweden for financial support.
Lower fees
The citizens of the countries listed below pay no fee or a lower fee because of the EU Visa Facilitation Agreement.

Swedish Visa Extension Fee
A Swedish visa extension can be extended in certain cases if you stay in the country for less than 90 days.

You will not be required to pay a fee when you submit your application. But, you will have to pay the fee after the Migration Agency examines your application.

What If I Pay the Wrong Fee?
If you pay the wrong fee, the money will be returned to you. Whether you applied online or on paper, you need to contact the Migration Agency to request a money refund.
For applications submitted to an embassy or consulate-general, you need to contact them instead.
The request for a refund must include:
- Name and surname.
- Personal ID number.
- Date of birth.
- Address.
- The reason why you should get a refund.
- The bank and account number to the money should be transferred to.
