One of the requirements when submitting your Denmark visa application is to pay for the Denmark visa fee.

The form of payment can be online via the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or directly at the appointed embassy or consulate. The applicant can execute the payment method for Denmark visa fees via cash, debit, or credit card.

Denmark Visa Fee List

The fees for a Denmark visa are as follows:

Standard fee for a short-stay visa (Schengen) €90
Short stay visa for ages 6 to 11 years €45
Short stay visa fee for nationals covered by the visa-facilitation agreement (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, Montenegro, Serbia, and Moldova) €35
Standard fee for long-stay visas (Visa D) €195 

How to Pay the Denmark Visa Fee?

The applicants can pay for Denmark visa fees in several ways:

  • Online with a credit or debit card (using the Ministry of Foreign Affairs site).
  • Through transfer from a Danish online bank (in Danish kroner (DKK))
  • Paying with a payment form in bank or post office
  • Through international bank transfer

You can not pay the fee by cheque.

Applicants should submit the payment receipt at the Danish Visa Application Centre (VFS) when they submit their application documents. The visa application centers can charge a fee of 30 for their services.

Note: If you pay a fee and the authorities decide that you are exempt from paying it, you will be refunded. The fee can be refunded by transfer to a Danish Easy Account, a Danish bank account, a foreign bank account, or in cash at a Danish diplomatic mission.

Who Is Exempt From Paying the Denmark Visa Fee?

Applicants that belong to the following categories are not required to pay the Denmark visa fee:

  • Children between the age of 0 – 6 years
  • Family members of EU and Swiss citizens
  • Researchers traveling for scientific research
  • Student, pupils, postgraduate students, and accompanying teachers who travel or training or study
  • Holders of diplomatic passports and service passports

Keep in mind that to finish the enrollment of the application, you may have to pay the standard fee of €80 on the site. After the embassy or consulate starts processing your application, you will get your money refunded to your account.

How Much Does a Visa Extension in Denmark Cost?

If you want to apply for an extension of your Schengen visa for up to 90 days, you have to pay a fee of DKK 225 (€30). The fee varies on the type of extension you are applying for.

Denmark Long Stay Visa Fees

The fees for Denmark long-stay visas are as follows:

Denmark work visa DKK 4,405 (appx. €590)
Student visa DKK 1,890 (appx. €250)
Start-up visa DKK 1,890 (appx. €250)
Family reunification visa DKK 2,920 (appx. €390)
Working holiday visa DKK 1,890 (appx. €250)
Visa for religious workers, including accompanying family members DKK 10,965 (appx. €1,460)
Visa for retired employees of international organizations, including accompanying family members DKK 1,655 (appx. €220)

Denmark Permanent Residence Permit Fees

The Denmark permanent residence permit fees are as follows:

Permanent residence permit (family reunification) DKK 4,820 ( appx. € 646)
Permanent residence permit (asylum) DKK 6,745 (appx. €904)
Permanent residence permit (religious worker and accompanying family members)
Permanent residence permit (work and study)

Note: You must pay the fee no later than the time you submit your application, appeal, or request; otherwise, you will be rejected. Your case won’t be processed until you complete the fee payment.

Residence permit fee exemptions

The following are exempt from paying a fee for residence permits:

  • EU/EEA citizens applying for a residence permit under EU law.
  • Citizens of Nordic countries.
  • Turkish citizens applying for a residence.
  • People with refugee status
  • Individuals living in Denmark who have a child under the age of 18
  • Individuals living in Denmark who are seriously ill or have a disability that prevents them from paying the fee.

Special cases that do not require a fee for submitting an application for a residence permit or an extension of a residence permit include:

  • Japanese citizens applying for Working Holiday Visa
  • Volunteers
  • Commuters (work permits for people who reside outside Denmark)
  • Asylum seekers
  • Anyone applying for a residence permit:
    • On humanitarian grounds
    • On the grounds of the International Cities of Refugee Network program
    • As a non-deportable person
    • On the grounds of former Danish citizenship or Danish descent
  • Residence permit applicants under EU law
  • Residence permit applicants in Greenland and the Faroe Islands

You won’t be required to pay a fee even if you want to appeal a ruling or reopen a case in the case types mentioned above.
