Whether you wish to visit Iran for tourism or business, the new electronic visa system has largely facilitated the application process, and you can complete your entire application online.

The Iran e-Visa is issued for tourism, business visits, medical purposes, or for visiting relatives. The visa allows you to enter Iran for a short amount of time by filling in and submitting the application form electronically.

Which Countries Can Apply for Iran e-Visa?

Almost all nationalities can apply for an e-Visa to Iran. Once issued, you can pick it up at the airport in Iran or at an Iranian embassy abroad.

Important: Citizens of the following countries must apply for and collect their visa before arriving in Iran: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Canada, Colombia, Iraq, Jordan, Pakistan, Somalia, United Kingdom, and the United States

Additionally, British, Canadian, and American citizens can only travel to Iran if they are escorted by government officials.

Which Nationalities Don’t Have to Apply for Iran e-Visa?

If you come from one of the countries listed below, you do not need to apply for a visa before entering Iran:

However, if you wish to stay longer, you must apply for the relevant visa.

How to Apply for an Iran e-Visa?

The application process for an Iran e-Visa is as follows:

  1. Access the official eVisa application form.
  2. Select the type of visa (Tourist, Pilgrimage, Diplomatic, Service, Transit, Press, Family, Trading, Pilgrimage Arbaeen, Family visit, Tourist (Urgent) you wish to apply for.
  3. Select your nationality. Individuals who have dual nationality must choose the nationality based on the travel document/passport they plan to travel with.
  4. Select the type of passport (Ordinary, Service, Diplomatic, Travel Document, Laissez-Passer)
  5. Select the place of issue.
  6. Write down your personal information. You must write all information as they appear on your passport.
  7. Next, write down your contact information. This information will be used to verify your security status, therefore you must make sure that you write all information correctly.
  8. Write down your passport information. Your passport must be valid for at least six months from the moment that you submit your application. Your passport must have two blank pages. Otherwise, your visa might be rejected.
  9. The last step requires that you write down your visa information. Place of issue means the embassy or consulate that you wish to submit your application and collect your visa. Although some visas are available on arrival in Iran, others must be pre-arranged.

How Will I Receive My Iran e-Visa?

After your visa has been approved, you can choose to:

  • Receive your e-Visa at your home (you must cover all costs).
  • Collect it at the nearest Iran embassy in your home country.
  • Pick it up on arrival at an Iranian airport.

What Documents Do I Need for an Iran e-Visa?

When getting ready to apply for your Iran e-Visa, you must make sure that you have the following documents with you:

  • Valid passport. Make sure your passport is valid for at least 6 months.
  • Photo of your passport (first page). In JPEG (jpg or jpeg) file format. File size must be equal to or less than 500 kB (less than 10 kB is not accepted). You should only upload the first page, full-length images are not acceptable.
  • Photographs of your face. Follow these requirements when uploading your photograph: File format must be JPEG (jpg or jpeg) equal to or less than 500 kB in file size (less than 10 kB is not accepted). 70-80% of the photo must be filled by the applicant’s face.
  • Flight ticket  issued by an airline or a travel agency which confirms that an individual has booked/paid for a flight seat on an aircraft.
  • Visa authorization code letter.
  • Accommodation details. You must include information about where you will be staying once you are in Iran as you will be asked to give information related to your accommodation in your application.
  • Résumé or Curriculum Vitae; You may be asked to provide information about your current and previous education and work history.
  • Other information; Depending on the visa type that you are applying for, you will be asked to provide additional information/documents.

How Much Does the Iran e-Visa Cost?

An Iran e-Visa cost depends on your nationality. However, it costs anywhere between 70€ to 80€. If you come from Europe, it will cost 75€.

How Long Does the Iran e-Visa Take to Process?

Once you submit your application, it will take around 10 to 15 business days for your visa to be processed. This is the standard waiting time. However, it might take longer in certain circumstances.

How Long Is the Iran e-Visa Valid For?

The Iran e-Visa allows you to stay in Iran for 30 days in total.

Can the Iran e-Visa Be Extended?

Yes, you can extend your Iran e-Visa. If you wish to stay in Iran for a longer period of time than your visa was issued for, you can apply for an extension.

Can I Check My Iran e-Visa Application Status Online?

Yes, you can. You can track your application through this website. In order to be able to see the latest status of your application, you must write down your reference number. If you do not have access to your application reference number, you may also write down your email address and passport number.

Remember: The reference number is a combination of letters and numbers which is sent to you via email address.
