How to Apply for a Hong Kong e-Visa?

The application process for a Hong Kong e-visa is as follows:

  • Complete the online application form. You have to start the application through the The Immigration Department website. Simply select the visa type you are applying for and you will be redirected to a page with the relevant documentation you need and the application link. When completing the application form, remember you must write down all of the information as they appear on your passport/travel document. If there are any inconsistencies, your visa will not be processed.
  • Pay the visa application fee. After you fill in the application form and check if everything is correct, you will automatically be directed to another part of the application process where you will have to pay the fee. You can pay in person as well. If you decide to pay at an Immigration Center instead of online, you can do that. You will be issued the e-Visa on a printed sheet of A4 white paper.
  • Receive and download the e-Visa. After you have made the payment and submitted your application your visa will be processed within a fairly short amount of time.

How Will I Receive Hong Kong e-Visa?

You will receive your Hong Kong e-Visa at your email address. As soon as you submit your application, it will take a few days until you finally receive a confirmation of whether your visa has been approved or not.

Do I Have to Print Out the Hong Kong e-Visa When I Travel?

Yes, you do. You can either print it out on a sheet of A4 white paper or save it as a soft copy on your phone. But, you must have it with you when you travel. You will have to present your e-Visa along with your passport and other supporting documents at border control. The Immigration Officer will be verifying your documents and scan the encrypted QR code on the e-Visa.

What Documents Do I Need for a Hong Kong e-Visa?

Make sure you have the following documents in your possession to be able to apply for the Hong Kong e-Visa:

  • Valid passport/travel document.
  • Passport-size photograph. The photograph should be recent (not older than 6 months), and the background should be white.
  • Proof of financial funds. You must provide proof that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay in the country.
