What Documents Do I Need for a Visa Application?

For any visa application, usually, you have to prepare the following documents:

  • Passport. To apply for a visa, you need to have a valid passport having at least 3 months validity after you depart, sometimes 6 months validity may be required.
  • Visa application form. You have to find the visa application form and fill it in with your personal details, depending on the country where you are going, online visa applications may be available.
  • Photograph. You need to have at least a valid visa photograph, following the visa guidelines. Some countries may require more than one picture.
  • Travel Insurance. When you visit a foreign country, you need to have valid travel insurance that will cover any upcoming medical emergencies during your visit.
  • Proof of financial means. You also need to show bank statements or a savings account, proving that you have enough money to support your travel expenses.
  • Travel itinerary. For your visa application, you must provide a detailed itinerary describing your travel plans, you must mention all the places you plan to visit, when, and how long you intend to stay there.
  • Invitation letter. In case you have friends or relatives who have invited you to visit them, you must submit their invitation letter with your other visa documents.
  • Proof that you have a place to stay. You have to submit proof that you have booked either a hotel, a private room, or that you can stay with someone else during your visit.

Visa-Free Entry to the UK for New Zealand Citizens

You can also stay visa-free for up to 6 months in the UK if you meet the following criteria:

  • You are not going to work while you are in the UK.
  • You have no plans to marry or enter e civil partnership.
  • You have enough money to stay for 6 months.
  • You have plans to leave the country after 6 months are over.
  • You have adequate accommodation if you are under 18 years of age.
