Visa requirements for Hong Kong citizens change depending on which country you want to visit or why you want to visit that specific country.

However, Hong Kong’s passport, otherwise known as an HKSAR passport, is ranked as the 19th in terms of mobility, according to the Henley Passport Index, which means that there are plenty of countries where you can go visa-free.

As of this recent year, Hong Kong citizens can enter visa-free (get a visa on arrival or apply for an eVisa), 170 countries and territories.

The APEC card is a travel document that is issued to citizens that belong to the countries that have signed an economic agreement- this includes Hong Kong as well.

If you hold an APEC Busines Travel Card, you enjoy more benefits including:

  • The ability to enter visa-free, or without a permit to other countries that belong to the APEC agreement (excluding the US and Canada)*.
  • The ability to participate in legitimate business activities.
  • Fast-tracking the process of border crossing between APEC countries.
  • The ability to schedule a visa interview for the US as soon as possible.

The US and Canada, are transitional members of the economic agreement, and for that reason, you will most likely be required to apply for a business visa or any similar visa, if you plan to conduct business in those countries.
