What Is a Russia eVisa?

A Russian eVisa is an electronic permit for entry to Russia. It is valid only for the nationals of a few selected countries. It enables its holder to enter and exit through a limited number of border crossing points. There is no application fee for this visa. It is processed within 4 days, and the application process is very simple. No invitation letters, hotel booking or other similar documents are required.

Who Can Get a Russia eVisa?

The Russian eVisa is only valid for selected categories of people. If you wish to apply for such a visa, you should check whether you are eligible according to:

Eligible purposes of entry

If you are a national of one of the above countries, you will be able to apply only if your purpose of entry is:

  • business
  • tourism
  • purposes of the journey are sports, cultural, scientific and technological ties

Available ports of entry

If you fulfill the condition of nationality and purpose of entry for an eVisa, you can then apply for it. However, you should be aware that this visa is valid for entry into and exit from the Russian Federation only through the following State border crossing points of the Russian Federation located in the territory of the free port of Vladivostok:

  • Air checkpoints:

    • Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky (Yelizovo Airport).

How to apply for a Russia eVisa?

The application process for a Russian eVisa is simple and quick. Pay attention to the tips and steps given below to file a successful application.

Step I: Figure out if you are eligible for a Russian eVisa

From the information given so far, you have probably figured that out.

Step II: Check when is the right time to apply

According to the Russia eVisa rules the earliest you can apply is 20 days prior to your intended trip. The latest, on the other hand, is four days before your trip.

Step III: Complete the application form

You can find the online applications form at evisa.kdmid.ru. It will require your email, name, surname and birthday. On each page, you will have tips on how to fill in your information. Follow these tips. Save the Application ID displayed in the top right corner of the page somewhere. You may need it later.

The application form also asks you to upload your digital color photo in the JPEG format. At the end click the sending button and wait for the confirmation of its acceptance for processing.

If you do not receive an answer on your application within four days, you will need to apply for a regular visa.

Russia eVisa Requirements

After you get your eVisa you can travel to Russia. Still, the border police at the port of entry will decide whether you should be permitted to enter Russia or not. You will have to fulfill the following conditions to be able to enter:

  • Passport Requirements. Your passport should be valid for at least another 6 months from the date you applied for an e-visa. It should also have at least one black page for border crossing stamps.
  • Health Insurance Requirement. Foreign travelers that enter Russia with an eVisa need to show proof they have valid medical insurance for the Russian Federation’s territory for the entire period of stay.

Russia eVisa Validity

An eVisa permits its holder to remain in Russia for a maximum of 8 days within a 30-day period. Note that the day you enter Russia counts as day 1, even if it is just a few minutes before midnight. The day you leave, counts as the last day, even if it is just a few minutes after midnight.
