Each profession, has also a fixed amount of the minimal salary that the applicant must be offered in order to be considered as eligible for the visa.

Aside of these two main criteria there are also a number of requirement that each applicant must fulfill in order to be able to get the Tier 2 General visa, which permits its holder to enter and remain in the United Kingdom for up to 5 years.

Levels of Jobs in the RQF

Jobs are categorized according to the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) which was launched on October 2015, with the sole purpose of helping people understand all the qualifications that the UK Home Office regulates, which are general and vocational in England, and Vocational in Northern Ireland. These levels are categorized according to their difficulty.

The Tier 2 General visa includes the 4th and 6th level of the RQF job levels.

In order to be categorized in the 6th level you must fulfill one of the following qualifications:

  • degree apprenticeship
  • degree with honours – for example bachelor of the arts (BA) hons, bachelor of science (BSc) hons
  • graduate certificate
  • graduate diploma
  • level 6 award
  • level 6 certificate
  • level 6 diploma
  • level 6 NVQ
  • ordinary degree without honours

Whereas, in order to be eligible for the 4th level of the RQF you must have one of the following qualifications:

  • certificate of higher education (CertHE)
  • higher apprenticeship
  • higher national certificate (HNC)
  • level 4 award
  • level 4 certificate
  • level 4 diploma
  • level 4 National Vocational Qualification (NVQ)
